Back in 2013, I’d just moved back to North Wales

I’d realised the 9–5 office life wasn’t for me

​

So I launched my own football coaching business for kids

​

Weekend sessions for little ones aged 18 months to 6

​

Plus, holiday camps for 6 to 12s during school breaks

​

We usually had 20–30 kids a day on the camps

Advertised through schools, and got parents to pay online

​

But then… we landed the dream client

​

Her son was coming to a summer camp

​

And she said she’d mention it to a few of the other mums

​

I said sure, no problem, they can pay on the day

​

That morning, we turned up as usual

​

Only this time, 10 people were already waiting

​

We were shocked, normally we arrived before anyone else

​

While we apologised, more people started showing up

​

The two coaches started unloading gear from the car

​

And even more people arrived

​

I shouted over to help me start checking kids in

​

And still, they kept coming

​

By the time we were done…

​

83 kids had turned up for that one single day

​

At £20 a head

​

That’s over £1,600 in one morning

​

All because one parent liked what we were doing and told a few others

​

It taught me two big lessons:
